Chanel has opted to provide pastoral counseling (to both individuals and engaged couples) to support people with resolving internal conflict, as well as interpersonal conflict, with the ultimate goal of augmenting their relationship with God.

Shantora Chamberliss

Shantora Chamberliss, LCSW

Greetings! My name is Shantora Chamberliss and I am so appreciative of you visiting our website! First, I am a proud native of the rural town of Surry County, Virginia. Due to challenging experiences in my upbringing, I have always known that one day I wanted to be to others what I needed then which for me meant becoming a social worker. So, after graduating from Surry County High School in 2000, I began my college career at Virginia State University majoring in social work. When that program was no longer offered, I transferred to Christopher Newport University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Worker in 2005. Shortly after graduating, I was very excited to be offered a paid position at Lutheran Family Services where I had completed my internship. During the time at LFS, I was provided the opportunity to do some juvenile diversion work, mentoring, case management for therapeutic foster children, intake, and facilitate a social skills group for young people preparing to transition into the independent living setting. Also, during that timeframe, I was able to complete the MSW program at Norfolk State University. In 2011, I made the difficult decision to transition from LFS and began working full time at the Hampton Newport News Community Services Board where I was afforded the opportunity to work as a Clinical Intervention Specialist within the Hampton School System for three years, complete the requirements to become a licensed clinical social worker and work as an outpatient therapist. I briefly left the HNNCSB in December 2016 and relocated to Columbia, South Carolina and was ecstatic to be hired as a Clinician at the University of South Carolina in the counseling center. There, I was not only able to counsel young adults struggling with various adjustment, emotional and historical mental health challenges, I was able to work with a dynamic interdisciplinary team who emphasized the concept of integrated health. In my current full-time role as a Behavior Health Case Manager with Anthem, I have gained further insight on the importance of integrating physical and mental health care. So, in late 2019, Carina Williams, Chanel Wright, and I became the proud co-owners of C&S Holistic Counseling and Consulting, LLC. I must say that through all of these experiences, the relationships I’ve established both professionally and personally during these years have proved to be invaluable and one of the greatest gems of my lifetime. Out of all of this, all of these words, all of these experiences, all of these amazing moments in time, I am MOST proud to be the mother of a Senior at Radford University, who despite being the product of a teenage mother, has transformed into this beautifully unique, intelligent, funny, ambitious, athletic, spiritually inclined human being. She makes me proud every day and I could not have prayed for a better role model for my second miracle which came 19 years later- a feisty, brilliant, loving, affectionate, precocious little girl who also amazes and force me to be a better and stronger person every day. My future aspirations include growing our practice to include a non-profit organization and working directly with pregnant and teenage mothers. During my free time-which basically no longer exist, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, meeting new people, learning, reading, relaxing, traveling and my guilty pleasure reality tv. I LOVE to laugh but more so, I love to see others smiling and happy. An interesting fact about me is that I was voted class clown during my senior year of high school mainly because I knew laughter was an escape, contagious, free and lastly, still one of the best forms of therapy available.
